Galaxy S9

The Samsung Galaxy S9 is all but official right now, with renders giving us an early glimpse of the design, and the company finally confirming the handset’s arrival on February 25, 2018, a day prior to the MWC event in Barcelona.

As we’re counting down to the big day, Samsung Germany has published the support page meant for the dual SIM variant of the Galaxy S9. Bearing the model number SM-G960F / DS, this is as official as it can get. The ‘F’ in the model number tells us it’s the international variant (models sold outside the U.S. and South Korea), while the ‘DS’ is the marker used on dual-SIM models.

It is important to note that Samsung has historically sold dual SIM variants of its flagships only in the Asian markets. Keeping this in mind, it’s likely that the trend will continue with the Galaxy S9 as well.

Galaxy S9 Announcement

With the company expected to unveil and showcase the device during the MWC next month, it is being speculated that the phone will be officially available for purchase on the 16th of March. The date has also been mentioned on the company’s press renders, so we can say with some amount of certainty that this is legitimate information.

Early press renderings of the Galaxy S9 didn’t reveal a lot of changes in design compared to the predecessor. However, the smartphone is expected to pack a significantly beefed up interior hardware in addition to a few new software tricks. I am particularly curious about the new camera tech that is going to be onboard the flagship.

The retail packaging of the handset was leaked a couple of weeks ago, revealing the entire hardware specs sheet. We’re still unsure if the phone will pack a dual-camera setup, although rumors have talked about the Galaxy S9+ featuring a dual-camera sensor on the back.

Is there a feature you’re looking forward to in the new flagship? Share your thoughts below.
