One reason why CyanogenMod is so popular is its ability to bring the latest version of Android to devices that have long been abandoned by the its original OEM. The Galaxy S2 is one such device, which Samsung stopped supporting after rolling out its Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update last year.
Today, the CyanogenMod team has decided to breathe a lease of new life into the device by rolling out the official CM11 nightlies for it. For the unknown, CyanogenMod 11 nightlies are based on the latest version of Android — KitKat — that has been optimised for low-end devices.
With KitKat, S2 owners are bound to notice some performance improvements in day to day usage of the phone. However, do keep in mind that since the nightlies have just started rolling out, there are bound to be some bugs and stability issues. So, if stability is your prime concern, wait for sometime before installing the nightly on your S2.
