Samsung’s Galaxy Note has always been a premium device. Due to the larger screen and addition of a digitizer, it’s often been more expensive than the company’s flagship “S” phones. According to the Korean website ETNews, Samsung wants to make the Note more accessible, so when they unveil the Note III next Wednesday in Berlin, they’re also going to unveil a “lite” version that trades the AMOLED panel for an LCD and the 13 megapixel camera for an 8 megapixel shooter.

Does this rumor have any credibility? Actually, yes. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about multiple Note III variants. At one point, people thought we might see as many as four different Note III models. What troubles me is how Samsung will market these lower priced models. Will the “cheap” Note III have a different name? Will Samsung simply call the cheap Note III the “Note III”, but change the model number to something like GT-N7206 or some random string of characters?

I don’t know.

What I do know is that the “high-end” Note III is supposed to have a 5.68 inch 1080p screen, 3 GB of RAM, Snapdragon 800, 13 megapixel camera, stylus (of course), and that’s about it.
