Blackberry Priv

BlackBerry today announced a beta program for testing Marshmallow on the BlackBerry Priv. The beta program is intended to polish Marshmallow on the Priv before rolling it out to all Priv owners across the globe.

The BlackBerry team notes that joining the beta program may also provide users with access to “bleeding edge” security updates, which will be released even before the company usually rolls out its monthly security updates.

The Marshmallow update will bring a number of new features to the Priv including Now on Tap, improved battery life thanks to Doze and App Standby, and automatic data backup for apps.

Priv units purchased from ShopBlackBerry, Amazon or Carphone Warehouse are eligible to take part in the beta program. Owners of other variants of Priv can also take part in the beta program, but their registration might not be accepted immediately.

Registrations for the beta program will open from the second week of April for about two weeks. There will be limited space, so make sure to join the program as soon as possible. The beta program will automatically end once BlackBerry starts rolling out the final version of Marshmallow to all Priv owners, which should happen somewhere around May of this year.

For now, you can sign up for the Android OS by BlackBerry beta program over here.
