Google Photos is flexing more AI muscles in photos, promising to do much of the work for you. You’ll want to share with friends and family when it comes to fixing images, finding memories, or making cute animations. In the latest photos update, the app will begin to ping you about pictures that are sideways but need an adjustment. You’ll then be able to fix them all at once.

Photos will pull together images that it thinks you ought to rotate.

Additionally, photos will now pull moments out of your videos and turn them into an animation. Unfortunately, you can only select segments from your videos to do this yourself. It’s controlled by artificial intelligence. You’ll get pinged with photos. This may appeal to those with young children. Who can get frequent updates about all those moments that can fly by quickly.

Watch that little one grow up with regular updates from photos.

The new stuff is coming to photos’ AndroidiOS, and web versions.

The impact on you: Photos continues to show why it’s an excellent option for saving pictures. Machine learning makes it easier to find past images to do basic sorting. However, more human-powered editing would be helpful in this case. Such as pulling out animations from the videos on your own.
