It’s time for a case

th a phone as a declicate as the glass-covered Galaxy S7 ge, a case is pretty much a necessity. But finding a good one that’s snug protective is a challenge, given the phone’s unique design. You want to protect your precious, but you also don’t want something so overbearing that you lose the curved-screen effect.

The batch of cases in this roundup mostly stick to that principle, although there are also a few bulky sturdy options if you don’t want to take any risks. Your smartphone is probably always with you, so the right case matters a great deal.

Samsung D llet Cover

This was definitely one of my favorites, especially since it functioned rather well as a wallet case. The D cover is more of a conversation piece, although the notification of a missed call or message is useful.

I was able to squeeze three credit cards into the slot that’s in the front flap, but keep in mind you’re trading off the bulk of a wallet for a heftier phone case. However, this one is definitely a looker is about as small as you can get for a wallet case.

Samsung has shown it can design great phones, it’s brought that same sense of style to cases as well. This turned out to be my favorite case overall when I wasn’t using one of the wallet options. It’s very minimalist, the clear view lets you show off the beauty of the phone.

It did make me wonder what would happen if the phone was dropped on the side, as those curved edges were definitely exposed. It’s a great case, but not a good choice if you’re clumsy.

Case-Mate Clear Naked Tough Case

en I undertook this endeavor to discover what would make for a great Galaxy S7 ge case, I was taken aback at how popular the concept of clear cases had become.

There are many, you’ll be happy with the version that Case-Mate has created. The case may be “naked,” but it’s designed to be strong as well. The cushioning on the edges is thick the company says that it has “anti-scratch” technology to reduce the potential for blemishes.

lican otector

The phrase “military grade” gets thrown around a lot when it comes to tough cases. I have to say if anything is worthy of that name, it’s this offering from lican. It’s a really firm rubber that should be able to take a thrashing from a two-year-old or a drop onto the pavement.

The case is definitely think, so there will be no mistaking that it’s in your pocket. But if you want something solid looks good (blue black are the options) then the lican otector is a good choice.

Skinit

If you want a more personal case, check out the options from Skinit. etty much any sports team, university, many different comics other characters are available to be splashed across your case. I was offered an option that’s sure to be popular with rriors fans, but there are many to choose from on the Skinit site.

Nothing says class like “Esquire.” Bring efforts aside, I found this to be another good option for those who want a solid case that doesn’t feel like it’s doubled the weight of your phone. The phone also feels very snug gives you confidence that it can hle a drop or two.

ile the black option looks nice, there are three other models: gray, blue, olive.

Speck CyShell Grip

One thing I’ve always appreciated about Speck cases is that most models include a nice grip. The look of this version (I used the white you see in the picture) isn’t as clean as some other cases that opt for a completely smooth back, but you’re very unlikely to lose hold of your phone with this case.

There’s also a teal/gray black/gray alternative if the white pattern isn’t your thing.

Speck Impact Clear

Clear cases have become very popular as a lot of buyers like the idea of not hiding that great hardware inside of a bulk of leather or opaque plastic or rubber. Speck’s Impact clear option is a good one for those who want to show off their phone. The case also includes the company’s pledge of “military grade” drop protection, it feels strong sturdy enough to live up to that promise.

Tech21 Evo llet Case

nt to ditch your wallet? As long as you can do with carrying just a few cards, this case will let you do that.

The most I was able to cram in to the inside flap was three, which could be sufficient for sticking close to home. But there isn’t any room for cash, the whole package is a little bulky. However, Tech21 designs great products, I found myself making this part of the regular rotation of cases I kept going back to for my own personal use.

Incipio Octane

This is another solid offering that lets some of the back of your phone peek outside of the case through the frosted view.

The phone fits in there well, just as I’ve found to be the case with other Incipio cases. The lining comes in pink, gray, blue, black. It’s a good choice if you want something minimalist but also feels like it’ll offer a sufficient amount of protection.

Incipio Stowaway

If you really want to travel light, then give the Incipio Stowaway a look. It has a compartment that has room for one card, which might be a more accessible place to stash your ID instead of deep inside a wallet or purse.

The back flap does feel like it could come off easily, so best not to get too rough when trying to open close it to access your card.

Caseology rallax

Caseology has a number of elegant cases that also do a good job at offering sufficient protection. The rallax series strikes the right balance in this area. It’s available in all black, black/gold, or the blue/gold that you see pictured here. The top bottom are less bulky than they may seem in the image shouldn’t impede quick access when pulling out your phone.

BodyGuardz Contact Case (clear)

Bodyguardz built a strong case that captures that increasingly popular clear look. This version withstood several drops when it was my daily driver for a while, it’s fairly minimalist won’t add too much unnecessary bulk to your phone.

BodyGuardz Shock Case

This is a solid offering if you want a case that has no fuss does a great job at protecting your phone. BodyGuardz cases feel stury are easy to grip thanks to the textures along the side. It’s not necessarily a head turner, but it will get the job done won’t draw too much attention to your phone.

Otterbox Defender

If you want absolutely nothing to happen to your phone, then this is probably the case to get. It’s a tank, the thick sides will definitely add some width weight to what you have to hold. But if you’re at the risk of drops, small children, or animals, then this might be the way for you to go.

Otterbox Strada Folio

This is one of the best-looking wallet cases around. ke most of the other choices in this category, you’re not going to get more than two or three cards squeezed into the front flap. But in all it’s a svelte package that will mean one less thing in your pocket if you can do without cash other cards. And it’s from Otterbox, so it definitely feels sturdy provides a lot of protection
