While Android Marshmallow is now official, it’s not exactly available to the public just yet. In the meantime, Android’s 5.0 release, Lollipop, is quietly gaining percentage points in distribution results.

For a period of seven days ending on September 8, the Android Developers blog has released the latest distribution numbers, showing that Android 5.0 and Android 5.1 have gained ground since the August results. Specifically, Android 5.0 is now present on 15.9 percent of devices, while Android 5.1 is now showing up on 5.1 percent of devices checking into the Google Play Store. Compare that to last month’s numbers, in which Android 5.0 checked in at 15.5% of devices, and Android 5.1 was only at 2.6%.

Android 4.4 KitKat is holding strong at 39.2%, but that’s still a decline from the 39.3% it held in August. Android 4.1 through Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is now on 31.8% of devices, while in August JB was on 33.6% of devices.

As is par for the course, the rest of the distribution numbers are slimming as well as the older versions of Google’s mobile operating system slip into the past.
