Google had confirmed not too long ago that Android Pay would be expanding into several new markets through the rest of the year, and Canada was specifically name dropped at the time.

Rumors had eventually cropped up that suggested the mobile payment option would see the light of day in Canada before the end of May. Today, the Google Canada Blog officially confirmed that Android Pay is now available in the Great North, with a variety of different banks across the region supporting the mobile checkout option.

The bank support will begin today, with many rolling out support for Android Pay over the next few days, and more being added throughout the year. Here is what the roll out looks like:

“Over the next several days, Android Pay is rolling out with support from eligible Visa and MasterCard credit cards from BMO Bank of Montreal, CIBC, Banque Nationale, Scotiabank, Desjardins, President’s Choice Financial, ATB Financial, and Canadian Tire Financial Services in Canada, and prepaid Scotiabank and Desjardins cards. Support for Interac-branded debit cards will begin roll-out on Monday, and support for American Express cards and Tangerine is coming later this summer. You can add multiple eligible cards and select which card you want to use before you pay, so you can always enjoy the best deals available.”

Meanwhile, the standard support from restaurants and other businesses is already in full swing, including McDonald’s, Tim Hortons, Sears, and many more. Additionally, Android Pay will also let users buy goods and services from inside of apps, including Uber, Atom, B&H, Doordash, Shopify, and more.

If you’re in Canada, and you have an Android 4.4 or later smartphone, you should be able to download the Android Pay app from the Play Store (link available below) and get things started.
