Google today released the final version of Android 7.0 Nougat for all compatible Nexus and Android One devices. The final version of the OS comes just a month after the company had released its final developer preview build.
As Google highlights on its website, Nougat comes with a number of new features and changes that will help in making you more productive and improve the performance of your device. For all productivity freaks, Nougat finally brings multi-window support to the OS. This way you can have two apps run side by side. You can also quickly switch between two apps by double tapping the Recent apps button.
To improve battery life, Android 7.0 Nougat comes with Doze on the Go. An improved version of Doze that was first introduced with Android 6.0, Doze on Nougat works even when your device is moving to preserve battery life.
Notifications have also received a major overhaul in Nougat. The notification panel itself has been completely revamped, with bundled notifications making it easier to view multiple notifications from one app. There is also a new Notification Direct Reply feature that lets you reply to notifications without having to open any app.
Other key new features of Android 7.0 Nougat includes a built-in system-wide Data Saver mode, being able to change the display scaling from the Settings menu, seamless updates, Direct Boot, and more. You can read about all the new features in Android 7.0 Nougat here.
Google will start rolling out the Nougat OTA update for all compatible Nexus devices from today, with the rollout expected to complete in a few weeks.
