Manufacturer Intrinsyc is now taking pre-orders for a Snapdragon 805 powered developer edition tablet. Interestingly, this modern tablet will only cost $800, which is what people would pay instantaneously considering the hardware on offer.

This will be a conventional tablet of course, running a state of the art chipset with all four cores firing at 2.7 GHz each. The display is apparently a 10-inch 2560 x 1440 panel, which is incredible considering the price you’re paying here. There’s also going to be 3GB of RAM as well as Android 4.4 KitKat, apparently.

Other features include surround sound stereo speakers and a total of 7 mics for 5.1 surround-sound audio recording. The battery is a meagre 3,400 mAh though, which means the device won’t last prolonged intervals. It is said that the tablet comes with a pair of noise cancelling headphones as well.

However, there’s one major constraint. Since this is a developer only tablet, most features do not work as you’d want them to. There’s no support for apps from the Play Store as most of them are not tailored to work with the new chipset, so you might not be able to get into heavy duty gaming sessions with it. However, the web browser and the rest of the apps should work just fine since they come with support for the chip out of the box.

Also, Play Store apps will inevitably get compatibility with the chipset when devices start hitting the market in the coming days. So if you’re looking for a powerful Android tablet which can do pretty much everything you throw at it (in terms of performance), this is probably your best bet.
