Back in 2014, Samsung surprised almost everyone by launching a rugged version of the Galaxy S4 for AT&T dubbed the Galaxy S4 Active. Since then, the partnership between the two companies have continued, with customers potentially being attracted by the rugged variant of Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S handset.

Continuing that trend, Samsung and AT&T seem to be working in the Galaxy S7 Active which has leaked in pictures originating from Vietnam.

The leaked photos reveal a handset that has a design similar to the Galaxy S6 Active, though it does seem less bulkier and hefty than its predecessor. The handset continues to sport physical navigation buttons, and if previous Active handsets were anything to go by, the handset will sport a military-grade IP68 rating that makes it drop, shock, dust and water-resistant.

The Galaxy S7 Active is likely going to sport the same set of specifications as the Galaxy S7, which means that we are looking at a Snapdragon 820 chipset, 4GB RAM, and a 12MP shooter with an f/1.7 aperture.

Don’t be too excited about Samsung launching a rugged version of the Galaxy S7, since like before, the handset is going to be available exclusively on AT&T. On the positive side, the handset is likely going to be priced around the same as the Galaxy S7, so you won’t really have to shell out extra moolah for all that ruggedness.
