Plenty of reports from last month suggested that the initial sales of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge have far surpassed Samsung’s expectations. Now, many analysts are estimating that the Korean company might have shipped nearly 9.5 million units of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge in the first quarter of 2016.

Considering that the handsets were launched on March 11 in most markets, this is not a small feat by any means. Do note, however, that this 9.5 million is likely the number of units that Samsung shipped to carriers and distributors across the globe, but there is still no denying the fact that there is a lot of demand for Samsung’s latest Galaxies.

Analysts had initially expected Samsung to ship around 7 million units of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge combined in the first quarter of 2016.

There are a multitude of factors as to why the Galaxy S7 and its edge sibling have been so well received by customers. Firstly, the waterproof design and the return of a microSD card slot means power users can once again consider purchasing the handsets. Secondly, Samsung has priced the Galaxy S7 and and S7 edge slightly lower than their predecessors, which is a huge bonus considering that the handsets offer major improvements in some key areas like battery life and ergonomics.

How are you liking your new Galaxy S7 or S7 edge? What made you buy the handset?
