Razer officially announced its first smartphone today, following plenty of rumors and speculation.
The Razer Phone is now officially official. It is, as expected, a powerhouse flagship device with plenty of high-end specifications and a focus on gamers. Those features include a 5.72-inch display which features a resolution of 2560×1440 and a wide color gamut. It also includes a refresh rate of 120Hz. That display is flanked by a pair of forward-facing speakers, which are Dolby Atmos-certified for audio clarity and depth.
Meanwhile, the handset also supports 8GB of RAM, 64GB of built-in storage, a microSD card slot, and the battery is measured in at 4000mAh. There is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor to power the whole package along. In addition to that, the handset is the first to support Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+, which means the device can go from zero to 85 percent charged in just one hour of charging.
Around the back of the handset, there are a pair of 12-megapixel cameras, which Razer says will support slo-mo video recording and portrait mode with a software update planned in the future. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack, though. It is running Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box, but Razer says an update to Android 8.0 Oreo is planned.
The Razer Phone is priced at $699 and it will go on sale in the United States before the end of 2017. It will also be available in the United Kingdom, where the wireless carrier Three will be the exclusive launch partner.
