Nokia sees green on Valentine’s; a not so subtle Android teaser?

Nokia greenOnce you go green, you go Android? It’s the million-dollar question today, as Nokia seems to bizarrely celebrate Valentine’s Day not by coloring everything in red, as is tradition, but the shade of growing grass and leaves.

Nokia’s Facebook page is bright green, its Twitter feed likewise, though the company’s official website swims against this seemingly odd tide by sticking with blue. Of course, it could all be an environmental-centric publicity stunt of sorts.

But you know what else is green aside from grass, leaves and emeralds? Android, exactly. Google’s mobile operating system has always been publicly depicted as a little green robot, so odds are we’ve solved the puzzle.

Besides, Nokia already hinted at its first dive in the Android ocean, back when it sent press invites for a February 24 event in Barcelona, at the Mobile World Congress. Granted, we still have no idea what was with the “meet us under the tree” message, but all shall come to light in due time.

By all, I mean the oft-rumored Nokia X, also known as “Normandy”, which allegedly runs on a forked version of Android 4.4 KitKat. Precociously priced in Vietnam at the equivalent of $110, the modest 4-incher will probably cost roughly $150 stateside, packing a dual-core 1 GHz Snapdragon chip, 512 MB RAM and 4 GB on-board storage.

Sounds like a glorified Asha, and you shouldn’t rule out its branding as part of the low-end, low-cost handheld family, as Nokia may attempt to gradually lure Android aficionados to the “dark side”. Will any of you dear readers jump ship? Let us know in the comments section below.
