Along with the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9, Google also released its first Android TV powered device in collaboration with ASUS — the Nexus Player.
The media player can be used for streaming your movies, music and videos to your TV at the tap of a button. Besides this, the Player can also act as a gaming device allowing you to play Android games on your TV via a gamepad.
With Google’s Play Games cloud syncing feature, you will be able to continue playing the same game on your phone without losing your progress. The device is Google Cast Ready, which means that it is already compatible with all the apps that support Chromecast, and also allows you to cast content from your Android device, iOS or Chromebook to it.
Google will also be bundling a voice-activated remote with the Nexus Player for quick and easy voice searches. The company will also be selling a Nexus gamepad separately so that you can convert the Nexus Player into your very own gaming console.
Under the hood, the Nexus Player is powered by a quad-core 1.8GHz Intel Atom processor and features Wi-Fi ac connectivity. The device will go up for pre-order in the United States on October 17th and will hit the retail stores on November 3rd for $99.
