The Sony Xperia Z1, which is only now reaching store shelves, is obviously going to get replaced with an improved version at some point in the future. That’s just how this industry works. Several weeks ago, rumors said that a Z2 would be announced at CES 2014, which is a hair over three months away. If that actually happened, that would’ve been crazy. Now, however, the word on the street is that Sony will wait until April to replace their flagship.

So what’s the Z2 supposed to do better than the Z1? If the rumors floating around the internet are to be believed, then it’ll be one of the first phones with a screen to have a pixel per inch rating of over 500. Speaking about the display, it’ll grow from 5.0 inches to 5.2 inches, which I’m not going to have a problem with if Sony can keep their gigantic bezels in check.

Other than that, it’ll have the same 20.7 megapixel camera in the Z1, the same Snapdragon 800 system on a chip, and the same 2 GB of RAM. It’ll run a newer version of Android, of course. We all know KitKat will be out by the end of next month, but will there be something else between October and April? That’s over half a year, so hey, you never know.
