Motorola today pulled the gun a bit early and rolled out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Moto X (2014) to certain users. The company had apparently intended to push the update only to its soak testers but mistakenly pushed it to other users as well.

The company had even posted the release notes of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update on its website but pulled it promptly later on. The release notes for the Moto G (2014) also went live prematurely but the company was quick to take them down as well.

The release notes did not particularly contain anything interesting and only listed some of the new features introduced in Lollipop including “new notification controls, an improved battery saver, improved on-device security,” Material Design and more. It also stated that the company has made the necessary changes in Moto Assist to make it compatible with the new notification system and Smart Lock feature in Lollipop.

It looks like Motorola is all set to roll out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Moto X and Moto G, and is only waiting for the green signal from Google. It is very much possible that the company manages to repeat its last year performance and roll out the Lollipop update to its devices before Google starts rolling it to certain Nexus devices.
