Last month, HTC joined forces with Under Armour to create its first wearable, which will be targeted towards fitness enthusiasts. Today, details about the company’s upcoming wearable has leaked, which reveals that it will not be running on Android Wear.

Instead HTC plans on using a custom software called “RTOS” that will allow the wearable — internally known as the HTC Petra — to work with both iOS and Android devices. In addition, the wearable is rumored to sport a 1.8-inch flexible (or curved) display, Bluetooth and GPS chips, an ST Micro 32L151 Cortex-M53 chipset, IP57 rating and nearly three days of battery life. Keeping in mind that the wearable is focused towards athletes, it will also feature an MIL-SPEC rating of 810G, which means it would be able to handle rugged environments without any issues.

Other features that HTC will be offering on its wearable include the ability to control music playback, timer, sleep analysis, remote camera shutter and basic support for displaying notifications. The wearable is first expected to launch in Q1, 2015 — presumably alongside the HTC One M9 at MWC on March 1, but will only be available in the United States initially.

While the market is flooded with wearables and activity trackers, none of them stand out from the competition or offer anything unique. It will be interesting to see if HTC’s first wearable will offer anything unique or it will just be a run of the mill fitness tracker.
