HTC is the only major Android OEM that is yet to announce a smartwatch running Android Wear. Earlier this year, HTC’s chairwoman, Cher Wang, said that the company’s first wearable should to be released later this year, but a report later claimed that the company had scrapped plans to release any smartwatch for now. 

However, if sources from CNET are to be believed, HTC is still working on its first smartwatch, though it will now only be released early next year.

According to CNET’s sources, HTC smartwatch will feature a unique design and build quality — something for which the Taiwanese OEM has always been known for — and features that will immediately attract consumers.

While we have already had six different Android Wear running smartwatches announced in the last six months, none of them are impressive and they all feel like a beta product. The recently released Moto 360 was anticipated by many as the perfect smartwatch, but has turned out to be a major disappointment thanks to its poor battery life and performance issues.

Even the recently unveiled Apple Watch does not feature an impressive design, something for which the company has always been known for.

Here’s hoping that HTC manages to come out with a smartwatch that truly manages to attract the attention of consumers out there while still delivering all day battery life.
