HTC has had a rough year, despite releasing a remarkable handset — the HTC One. The company has seen its revenue drop with every passing quarter, and posted its first quarterly operating loss in the previous quarter. The company, today, published its financial results for the fourth quarter of the last year where it posted an operating loss of NT$1.556 billion ($52 million). 

This is nearly half the loss of what the company reported in the previous quarter ($101 million). The total revenue of the company also fell slightly to NT$42.9 billion ($1.6 billion) in the last quarter of 2013, despite the release of its biggest handset till date — the HTC One Max.

The company, however, managed a paltry net income of around NT$310 million ($10.1 million), which was boosted by the sale of the its shares in Beats Audio for a pre-tax profit of $85 million.

HTC hopes now solely lie on its next flagship and the One’s successor. If the HTC M8 is not able to turn around company’s fortune, the company will be in knee-deep trouble and might not be able to survive.
