HTC introduces two new color options for the One Max in Taiwan: Red and Black

HTC’s One Max is a curious phone. It looks exactly like the normal HTC One, but the build quality suffers because there’s a removable back cover. It also has a fingerprint scanner that many tech reviewers have said is completely broken. About the only thing to like about the One Max is the front facing Boom Sound speakers. Because the phone is larger, the speakers have more room to breathe, which means they sound even better. If you know what an HTC One sounds like, it’s hard to imagine how in the world a device can top that, but the One Max does it with ease.

Now say you want an HTC One Max, but you’re sick and tired of silver phones. You want to stand out with something different. Well, HTC Taiwan just unveiled two new colors. There’s red, and there’s black. Both look better than the original silver color, in my opinion, but I haven’t seen a One Max in person, so take my opinions with a grain (mountain?) of salt.

Should you buy the HTC One Max now that you’ve seen a color variant you’re interested in? If you think you can handle using a huge smartphone, then go ahead, nothing is going to stop you. But if you’re scared about buying a phablet, then do yourself a favor and go to a store and spend a good 15 minutes playing with the device. If you’re nice, the store clerk might even let you put the phone in your pocket. If after all that you feel OK, then rock on.

Though personally, I’d recommend the Xperia Z Ultra if you’re going to go big.
