HTC’s portfolio is a bit confusing. There’s the flagship One, and then beneath it are a bunch of devices which still carry the “Desire” brand that the company introduced over three years ago. For those who don’t remember the HTC Desire, it was the phone that Google decided to turn into the Nexus One. I owned that Nexus, and I loved it.

But back to the story, the Desire 600 we know about. It’s basically a 4.5 inch plastic version of the HTC One. The Desire 200 on the other hand, it just leaked in Vietnam. It’s a super low end device. We’re talking 3.5 inch 320 x 480 pixel resolution screen, single core 1 GHz processor, 512 MB of RAM, 5 megapixel camera, and for some strange reason it runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Will this thing eventually get Android Jelly Bean (4.1/4.2)? I want to say yes, but this is HTC. They don’t have the best track record when it comes to software updates.

When will this thing be officially announced and how much will it cost? I expect we’ll know everything there is to know about the Desire 200 by the end of the summer, though when it does eventually hit the market, it’ll have to compete with devices like the Galaxy Young and Galaxy Fame.
