After almost a year since Google first released Android Nougat, an unofficial build of Xposed framework for the OS is now finally available. The unofficial release comes from the PurifyOS team and not from the original Xposed developer.
Due to this, there are certain issues with the framework but if are too used to Xposed, they should not be a big enough deterrent to not install it on your device. Do note that Xposed
With Xposed framework, you would be able to customise almost any aspect of the OS and third-party apps using modules to your liking. It is this modular aspect of Xposed that has made it so popular among power users. If you are looking to install the unofficial build of Xposed on your device running Android 7.0 – 7.1, check out the steps below.
Pre-requisites
- Make sure your Android device is rooted with a custom recovery like TWRP installed
- Your Android device must be running Android 7.0 or Android 7.1
- Samsung and Huawei/Honor devices are not supported by this unofficial Xposed framework for Nougat
- Make a backup of all your data before proceeding with the steps. There is a high probability that your Android device will enter into a bootloop or system apps will start crashing after installing the framework
- Remember that many Xposed modules will also have to be updated to work properly with Nougat
- For now, do not install Magisk as that is not supported by the framework
How To Install Unofficial Xposed for Nougat on your Android Device
Step 1: Download Xposed framework for Android Nougat and the accompanying APK from below, and then transfer both files to the internal storage of your Android device.

Step 2: Reboot your Android device into TWRP or any other custom recovery that you have installed on your device. This requires you one to switch off their device and press the volume and power button in a specific way. If you don’t know the key combination to boot your Android device into recovery, you can use the Quick Boot application from the Play Store.
Step 3: With your device in TWRP recovery, tap Install and select the Xposed framework installation zip file which you transferred to your device in the first step. Once the zip file is installed, reboot your Android device.
The first boot can take some time and there’s a possibility that your Android device can enter into a bootloop. In such a case, boot your device into recovery mode again and flash the zip file to uninstall the framework.
Step 4: If your device has booted into Android OS successfully, use a file manager of your choice and navigate to the folder where you had transferred the Xposed framework installer APK. Proceed to install the app like you would install any app. If you get a prompt saying you don’t have installation from unauthorised sources enabled, tap the ‘Settings’ button and then toggle the ‘Unknown Sources’ switch to on from the Security menu.
You can verify that you have Xposed framework installed on your device by opening the Xposed app from your app drawer and heading over to the Framework section of the app.
Do remember that since this is an unofficial build of Xposed for Nougat, it is bound to be a bit buggy. Plus, as noted earlier, many modules for Xposed will first have to be updated before they start working properly under Nougat.
