Xiaomi managed to take the smartphone market with a storm with its Poco F1. Apart from its beastly internals, Xiaomi has also promised speedy software updates for the device. Now, Xiaomi has started rolling out MIUI 10 for the Poco F1.
MIUI 10 for the Poco F1 is still based on Android 8.1 Oreo but it comes with a number of new features including a revamped Quick Settings, Split View multitasking, new system sounds, revamped notification shade, and more. The company has just started rolling out the OTA update so it will take a few days to land on your device. However, you can always manually sideload it by following the steps below.
What to Know Before Installing MIUI 10 on Poco F1
The data on your Poco F1 will not be touched in any way. But it is still recommended that you create a backup in case something goes wrong. You will not have to unlock the bootloader of your device or root it to install MIUI 10. And you will continue to receive future updates to MIUI 10 even after you sideload this update.
How to Install MIUI 10 on Poco F1
Step 1: Download the stable MIUI 10 build for the Poco F1 from here. You can download this file to your PC and then transfer it to the internal storage of your Poco F1 or just download it directly on the device.
Step 2: On your Poco F1, over to Settings -> About Phone -> System Update. On the top-right corner, you will see a 3-dot overflow button. Tap on it and then select Choose update package.
Step 3: If prompted, select File manager from the list of apps. Then proceed to select the MIUI 10 ROM zip file that you had transferred to the device in the first step. The Updater app will then decrypt the file after which you will be prompted to proceed with the installation.
Once confirmed, the installation process will start during which your Poco F1 will reboot automatically. The installation steps can take some time so be patient and ensure that your Poco F1 has enough charge to last through the process as well.
Post the reboot, you will have to go through the initial MIUI 10 setup since your device was completely formatted during the process. After that, you will be able to enjoy MIUI 10 with all the new features in all its glory on your Poco F1.
