After a soft launch last month, Huawei today unveiled the Honor 7X at an event in London. The successor to the popular Honor 6x from last year, the Honor 7X continues to feature a dual-camera setup at its rear.

Compared to the 6x, the biggest upgrade on the Honor 7X is the switch to a 5.93-inch FullView 18:9 display with minimal top and bottom bezels. The bottom bezel of the handset is devoid of any capacitive buttons and only features an ‘honor’ logo.

Inside the Honor 7x is Huawei’s own octa-core Kirin 659 chipset, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage and a 3340mAh battery. At the rear of the Honor 7X is a dual-camera setup featuring a 16MP primary shooter and a 2MP secondary sensor used for capturing depth information. The dual-camera setup allows the Honor 7X to offer a Portrait mode-like feature as seen on the iPhone 7/8 Plus, Galaxy Note8 and Pixel 2. There is also an 8MP selfie shooter at the front of the device.

The 7X runs on Android 7.1 Nougat with Emotion UI 5.1 on top of it. Huawei says that it will upgrade the 7X to Oreo by Q1 2018. Nonetheless, that should not have been an excuse for the company to launch the Honor 7X with Nougat out of the box.

Other specs of the Honor 7x include dual-SIM connectivity, microUSB 2.0, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC and LTE connectivity. The Honor 7X launches in India for Rs 12,999 for the 4GB RAM/32GB variant, with the 4GB RAM/64GB variant priced at Rs 15,999. The handset will be available exclusively through Amazon India later this month.
