Two different analyst houses have recently reduced their GS4 sales estimates. Just this morning, DigiTimes said their sources have noticed a drop in orders for parts and components meant for the GS4. Samsung’s stock price has taken a hit with all this negative attention, so what does the company have to say for themselves?

J.K. Shin, the Head of Samsung Mobile Communications, told Korean reporters on Wednesday that:

“I can say sales of the Galaxy S4 smartphone are fine. It’s been selling well. The report (by JPMorgan) was based on its own analysis. Probably, the bank may have corrected its previous bullish estimate about the S4 sales.”

So who should you believe? Shin or the media? Well, we’ll find out soon enough. Samsung typically releases data on their high end smartphone sales during every increment of 10 million. In other words, we already heard that they sold 10 million GS4 units. When will we hear that they sold 20 million? What about 30 million? And so on and so forth.

Once we have some actual data, it’ll be easy to say how well the GS4 is doing. Until then, this really is just a he said she said story with everyone pointing their fingers at everyone else.
