Google Pixel 3 XL Leak

Engineering units of the Google Pixel 3 XL have already leaked months before its formal announcement. The last time around, we saw the Pixel 3 XL in black, and today, the handset has leaked in white.

The photos posted on XDA forums show off the 64GB variant of the device featuring 4GB RAM. This leak again confirms that the Pixel 3 XL will feature 4GB of RAM which might be a bummer for many. The leak also confirms the presence of a notch on the handset along with front-facing speakers as evident from the speaker grille housed in the bottom bezel.

It is evident from the photos that Google is following the same design language with the Pixel 3 XL which it debuted last year with the Pixel 2 XL. It has been slightly tweaked though, with the two-tone finish at the rear toned down for which the Pixel 2 series was widely known for.

Lastly, the leaked photos also reaffirm that the Pixel 3 XL will indeed feature a single camera setup at the rear. Google is again bucking the trend of dual-camera setup on smartphones and instead seems to be relying heavily on its machine learning prowess to deliver outstanding imaging performance.

Our Take

The original Pixel and Pixel 2 were not really known for their design, and sadly, Google seems to be continuing that trend with the Pixel 3 XL. Up until last year, the company relied heavily on HTC to design and manufacture its handsets, but now that it has purchased the majority of HTC’s smartphone division, the company should have emphasized more on the design of the device.

The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will likely be officially unveiled by Google in early October and go on sale soon after. What do you think about the Pixel 3 XL based on the leaked photos above?
