Samsung has started rolling out a new software update for the Galaxy S5 that replaces the Interruptions/Priority mode of Android 5.0 Lollipop with the useful Silent mode. 

The lack of a proper Silent mode in Lollipop has been frustrating a lot of users. While switching Priority mode to none does silence the device, it will also silence the alarm, which is not something that most users would want. Therefore, it is nice to see Samsung updating the Galaxy S5 to add back Silent mode on the handset. The company has also kept Interruptions in case you were fond of it.

Samsung had rolled out the initial Lollipop update for the Galaxy S5 in December last year. It was then followed by another update in January that fixed the bugs and further improved the performance of the handset.

The latest update from Samsung is still based on the Android 5.0 build of Lollipop, and is currently being rolled out only to the G900F variant of the Galaxy S5 that is powered by a Snapdragon processor. For now, Samsung is rolling out the update only for the unlocked Galaxy S5 units in the UK region with a wider roll out planned in the coming weeks.
