Samsung has shipped almost 800,000 units of its Galaxy Gear smart watch since launch and is gearing up to push the watch in the final months of this fiscal year. Folks that scoop them up this holiday season will be able to some fun hacking thisdevice if they so please. Besides the basic tweaks,  the first custom ROM has made its appearance on the forums over at xda-developers.

The ROM was crafted by xda member fOmey and is based on the MK7 stock ROM. It has a handful of customizations like increased video recording times, native APK installation, live wallpaper support and more. It has a nice, clean UI that would look great on anyone’s wrist.

The thread at xda has complete installation instructions and even a video on how to get the Gear smart watch into recovery mode. You can check out the full list of features and all the comments from users on the thread over at xda developers. It’s worth a look if you are a Galaxy Gear owner and are itching to do more with your device.
