HTC Nexus 9 leak

According to Forbes, Google is all set to unveil the Nexus 9 and Nexus 6 tomorrow (October 15th). Apparently, the company decided against a “big reveal” because it is still fine tweaking Android L and will announce these devices via a blog post.

As stated by the source of the news, who is close to Google, the company will start taking pre-orders for the Nexus 9 from October 17th, while the device will be available for purchase from November 3rd.

Surprisingly, both new Nexus devices will come with expandable memory, which will make them the first Nexus devices after the original Nexus One to feature a microSD card slot.

It is not yet known as to when Google will start rolling out the Android L update for other Nexus and Google Play edition devices. While there is no word on the pricing of the Nexus 6, the HTC made Nexus 9 (dubbed Volantis) will cost $399 for the 16GB version and $499 for the 32GB LTE version.

As for the specs, the source says that most of the leaked Nexus 9 specs are correct and the device will feature an 8.9-inch display with a 2048*1440 resolution. Other internals include Nvidia’s custom made dual-core 64-bit Denver K1 chip, a 192-core Kepler GPU, 3GB RAM and front-facing Boomsound speakers.

To keep the costs of the tablet down, HTC and Google have opted for a “brushed aluminium” frame instead of an all-metal body. The companies will also be offering an “origami” magnetic case that can be bent into any shape and also double up as a stand.
