Today, both Andy Rubin and his company, Essential, took to Twitter to confirm that we should all be paying attention to Tuesday, May 30.

On that date, as per Rubin and the newly-minted Essential Twitter account, the company will have “something big” to announce. Surprisingly enough, details about what Rubin has been working on at his new company remain remarkably light. At this point, rumors have said that the new smartphone will be an edge-to-edge design, and that it will be running Android on board.

Otherwise, nothing is known about this upcoming smartphone. We do know from earlier reports that it will have a big focus on artificial intelligence, though, but what that actually means in action remains to be seen.

Rubin and Essential have been working for quite some time on this device, and based on Rubin’s own past teases of the upcoming smartphone, there is certainly something to be paying attention to.
