Xiaomi’s much-hyped Redmi K20 series launched in India earlier this week. There is a lot to like about these phones and if you plan on purchasing them, you will love the experience offered by them. To further enhance the experience of these devices, you should check out some must-have apps for these phones.

The MIUI 10 experience on the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro is notably better than what you get on other Redmi phones. Nonetheless, by installing some of the apps mentioned below, you will further enhance the experience of using your Redmi K20 phone.

Best Apps for Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro

Microsoft Outlook

The Gmail app does a good job of managing one’s various email accounts. However, I find the entire process of switching between multiple accounts in the app a bit cumbersome. If you prefer having a separate email app for work/personal purposes, you should definitely use Microsoft Outlook on your Redmi K20.

The app is massively popular and integrates nicely with Microsoft’s own suite of apps and services. It is a bit buggy but Microsoft has been rolling out regular updates to fix these lingering bugs. It comes with some handy features like Focused Inbox, ability to search through your files and emails, and even provides quick access to your calendar.

Sesame Universal Search

Sesame is hands down the app to install if you are a power user who has hundreds of apps installed on their Redmi K20 or Redmi K20 Pro. The app acts as a search engine for your phone and lets you search through your apps, contacts, photos, and even data within installed apps.

If you can, you should switch to Nova launcher and then use Sesame along with it. The tight integration between the two apps means you can use Sesame to do most day-to-day tasks in just 2-3 taps that would otherwise take at least 10+ steps.

AMOLED Wallpapers

Both Redmi K20 and K20 Pro feature a 6.39-inch notch-less AMOLED display. While the panels are not as good as what Samsung uses on its Galaxy S10 series, they are still pretty good and offer the usual benefits of an AMOLED display: great viewing angles, contrast, and saturation.

To further enjoy the AMOLED display of these phones though, you must also use the right set of wallpapers for your home screen. While colorful wallpapers are great to look at, one should look into using dark wallpapers as they look even more stunning on AMOLED panels and help increase battery life — albeit not by much — as well. For this, you can use the AMOLED Wallpapers app on your Redmi K20. The app contains a collection of 4K dark wallpapers that will look stunning on the Redmi K20’s display.

Xiaomi offers its own wallpaper gallery but if you want wallpapers optimized for an AMOLED display, AMOLED Wallpapers is the app to have.

Snapseed

The triple-camera system of the Redmi K20 and K20 Pro can take some stunning photos. It is backed by Xiaomi’s pretty impressive stock photo editing app which comes with some impressive features like AI Skyscapping and object removal. However, if you know your bit around editing photos, you will soon hit the limit of the stock photo editor.

This is where Snapseed comes in, easily among the most popular photo editing app on the Play Store. It provides one with granular controls to tweak and edit photos just as they desire. The plethora of editing options are neatly laid out and make it a breeze to quick fix a photo in no time.

Redmi K20 Gcam

This list would not be complete without mentioning the modded GCam (Google Camera APK) for the Redmi K20 series. While the Redmi K20 can take some pretty good photos, there is a notable improvement in image quality when one clicks photos with the modded Google Camera app.

The app is not without its own set of issues though. It only works with the primary camera of the Redmi K20 though which means you are not going to get to enjoy the image quality improvements for the ultra-wide angle and the telephoto sensor.
