Whether you are one of the lucky people living in South Korea who have already bought an LG G3, or you’re still waiting for the device to be available in your country to order it, you are probably wondering about the best ways to protect this new gadget of yours. After all, you don’t want that beautiful 2K screen to shatter or that metallic body to scratch! Below is a selection of the best 5 cases you can already buy for the LG G3, to provide protection for the phone without hindering its style.

In writing this roundup, I took two factors into consideration. First, I only chose TPU based cases because they provide the best shock protection, and second, only those that have separate openings on the back for the camera/buttons and the LED flash and laser autofocus. I ran across many cases that used a joined T-like cut for all elements on the back of the G3 and found them crude and very ugly. I know it’s a personal preference, but I couldn’t honestly find a reason to include them, when similar cases exist with precise and separate openings.

Caseology Skin Cover

Caseology has long been my favorite case maker. I’ve been buying their cases since I had a Galaxy S3 and have tried them for the Note 2, Note 3, LG G2, Nexus 5, among others. They are by far the slimmest TPU cases you can find, they are well built and provide excellent grip in the hand or on surfaces, their bumper doesn’t wrap too much to the front (which is very important on a device with small bezels like the G3) and they come in several colors ranging from pale to flashy to classy.

Tudia Ultra Slim

I’ve only recently discovered Tudia and their Melody series, and while that signature design is available for the G3, I did like the Slim Lite case a bit more. It’s a barebones TPU case, with a matte back and a rather glossy top and bottom. It’s unassuming, but this will help it blend into any environment. It’s available in white, black, purple and teal.

Cimo Dot

In all honesty, this is a case (pun intended) of jealousy. The Cimo Dot case, available in black, white, red and blue, emulates the dotted look of the Galaxy S5’s back. If you have the G3 but still envy this pattern from the S5 (though I have no idea why you would), you can use this case to keep your S5 drooling in check.

Verus Aura

Verus is a newcomer to the protection scene, but their cases have started to steal the spotlights from the big brands. The company has several models for the LG G3, my favorite being the Aura. Designed in TPU, the Aura carries a matte TPU on the top and bottom, with a 3D wave  pattern in the middle. The Verus Aura is available in black, gray, blue and hot pink.

Ringke Fusion

The Ringke Fusion has to be my personal favorite case on this list. It has a clear transparent crystal back, and a TPU-based bumper around the sides. This case comes with raised “rear guard” that props it slightly higher than any surface you place it on, to avoid scratching it. Its clear back can alternate between showing the G3’s metallic design or a “design it yourself” template where you can print any image and insert it to personalize its look.
