ASUS ZenWatch

Just a couple of weeks ago, it was reported that ASUS was gearing up to announce their own smartwatch at this year’s IFA conference. A couple of days later, the company officially teased the new product, with a confirmation that the upcoming event would be the place where they showed it off. Now the company has launched a new video, offering brief glimpses at the sleek new design that will be offered.

More than that, though, ASUS also confirms the name of the device itself: ZenWatch. The video opens with the quote that ASUS has been using right from the start — “Time has been transformed and we have changed” — and then gives us only the smallest teases of the watch itself as it is bathed in darkness. There are few specific details to glean from the video itself, other than the device does indeed look to have a curved display.

It also looks like the watch could be brushed metal, which would indeed make it stand out. However, there’s also a possibility that it’s just a plastic watch made to look metal. We’ll have to wait and see how it turns out when ASUS officially unveils the new smartwatch on September 3. There’s a good chance that the ZenWatch will be running Android Wear when it does launch at some point in the future.

Based on what you’ve seen of ASUS’s smartwatch, do you think you’d consider picking it up? You can check out the video below to see it in action for yourself.
