ASUS just announced a 6 inch 1080p Android device with a stylus called the fonepad Note. It has dual front facing speakers, like the HTC One. It uses Intel’s Z2560 processor. It has 2 GB of RAM, an 8 megapixel camera, and it looks like it’ll “only” do 42 Mbps DC-HSPA+.

How much is it going to cost and when is it going to come out? Two great questions that I don’t have the answers to right now. Let’s address the elephant in the room: This thing is pretty much a Samsung Galaxy Note III, though it’ll likely come out a bit earlier. When will Samsung announce their next Note? Probably in September at IFA in Berlin. It’ll likely use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 too, and the latest rumors suggest it’ll have a 5.9 inch 1080p AMOLED panel, unlike the 6 inch 1080p Super IPS+ LCD that’s in the fonepad Note.

Without any pricing information, it’s hard to say how competitive the fonepad Note will be, but knowing how ASUS rolls, I expect it to come in at under 500 EUR. The Note III on the other hand, it’s always been Samsung’s most expensive “pocketable” product. Expect at least 650 EUR.
