Google has kept it a pretty tight secret as to when its next version of its mobile platform, Android 7.0 Nougat, will land on devices out in the wild.

But that could be changing, as reported by AndroidCentral. According to the publication, which cites information gathered from the Canadian mobile carrier, Telus, along with a recently announced preview event from LG, Android 7.0 Nougat may be launching on Monday, August 22.

The carrier information, which pertains to an update schedule for the Huawei Nexus 6P and LG Nexus 5X, reveals that Android 7.0 Nougat is expected to begin its rollout for the devices on August 22. That would suggest Google will release the new software on that date, and current Nexus devices will be able to upgrade to the new platform beginning on that date.

To further compliment the possibility, LG’s preview program for Android 7.0 Nougat, which will allow a small amount of G5 users in South Korea to preview the new software, is scheduled to start on Monday, August 22 as well. The report also states it’s possible Android Wear 2.0 arrives on the same day, but that’s purely speculation.

As far as new devices are concerned, which will launch with Android 7.0 Nougat on board, we only know about the LG V20 at this point, which is scheduled to be revealed on September 6. Google should unveil two new Nexus smartphones sometime after that date.

Are you looking forward to Android 7.0 Nougat’s arrival?
