HTC has started rolling out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update for the Google Play edition of the One M8 from today. The roll out of the update was announced by Mo Versi, the VP of Product Management at HTC, on Twitter.
This makes the One M8 the first Google Play edition handset to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update and the second Android device after LG G4.

Many One M8 GPe customers have already received the 450MB OTA update on their device as well.
Android 6.0 Marhsmallow aims to improve the core user experience with its new features like a runtime app permissions manager, App Standby and Doze for better battery life, and more.
It is unclear if HTC will update the Google Play edition of One M7 to Marshmallow or not, though the chances do look bleak.
