BlackBerry Venice render

Near the end of September of this year, the long and oft-rumored “Priv” became official, with BlackBerry telling the world that its first Android-powered, BlackBerry-branded smartphone would land in the market soon.

On October 14, BlackBerry opened up pre-registration for the device, which essentially opened up more information about the device’s specifications. For anyone that is seriously considering the Priv as their next device, and you live in the United Kingdom, you’ll want to head over to Carphone Warehouse’s YouTube channel and check out a hands-on video that measures in at just over a minute.

The new video is certainly worth checking out, as it’s far better quality than some of the previous leaked videos of the handset. The Priv looks interesting, especially as a slider form factor that we don’t see all that often these days.

As far as a release date goes, that’s still up in the air, with the CEO of BlackBerry John Chen only confirming the handset will launch before the end of 2015. Rumors suggest a November release date, so the pre-orders that Carphone Warehouse opened up certainly make sense.

Do you plan on picking up the Priv?
