HTC Desire Eye official

Following plenty of leaks and rumors, HTC has officially introduced the Desire Eye. And, as rumored, the main selling point are the pair of cameras.

In New York City on Wednesday, October 8, HTC took the stage at their “Double Exposure” event and officially introduced the Desire Eye, a handset that obviously hails from the Desire family of handsets, but makes sure that the most obvious selling point is its cameras. On the back is a 13MP shooter, which is not all that striking all by itself. However, it’s the front-facing camera that might make some make a double take.

On the front is another 13-megapixel camera. Both cameras also feature a dual-LED, two-color setup. They both offer wide-angle lenses, just for good measure. The Desire Eye is an all-aluminum, unibody design, and as HTC more than elaborately outlines in their announcement video (which you can watch below), there will be plenty of color options available.

As far as specifications go, the Desire Eye will boast a 5.2-inch 1920×1080 display, while under the hood there’s a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor. You’ll find 2GB of RAM, 16GB of built-in storage, and a waterproof design. The battery measures in at 2400mAh.

HTC confirmed that AT&T will be the “exclusive launch partner” for the Desire Eye, which more than likely means it will only be a timed exclusive before it ends up on other carriers. However, Big Blue doesn’t have any word on when, exactly the Desire Eye will launch, or how much it will cost.
