Nexbit Robin, the smartphone that made its way to Amazon a week ago is available at a significant discount. At 25% off, the phone will now retail for $299 during the period between midnight PDT May 4th to 10th.
This drop in price would bring the cost back to what an original Kickstarter early adopter would have paid for the handset.
The Robin had started as a Kickstarter project in September 2015 and it has successfully gained over 3500 backers pledging in excess of one million dollars. Recently, the cloud based phone also received a large update that overhauled the camera UI while tweaking the audio and performance amongst other things.
Among other things, the phone is unique for being the premier cloud-first phone available and it utilises the cloud services in a new way. The phone backs-up apps onto the could when they see no activity for prolonged periods. This backup uploads the last downloaded version of the app and the app data onto the cloud. The app then appears as a greyed out icon, however taping on it downloads it from the cloud and launches it.
