Sony to power off ayStation Mobile on ly 15

ayStation Mobile will soon be no more, ending Sony’s foray into exping its gaming empire to smartphones tablets.

The ayStation Mobile store shuts down on ly 15. You can still download any games you’ve previously purchased through September 10 continue to play them afterwards as long as you activate your device.

To do this, you’ll need to grab the ayStation Mobile app on a supported device.

has put a ton of effort into a better Android gaming experience, cramming in features to ay Games creating multiplayer capabilities for developers to tap into.

It’s a far better option than what Sony has been able to provide, which only rolled out its mobile effort to a small list of certified devices. Most were manufactured by Sony itself; leaving out the popular flagships from Samsung, HTC, .

Of course, the ayStation app, which lets you interface with the company’s consoles service, will still remain. The shutdown only affects the separate ayStation Mobile games store.

The story behind the story: Sony set this in motion last August, when it announced it was no longer certifying new phones to run ayStation Mobile. It was a novel effort when the quality of Android gaming wasn’t that great, but it’s too difficult now to compete against the large gamut of games larger compatibility of the ay Store.
