Microsoft makes its Office for Android tablet preview apps available to all

Eventually, you’ll no longer need a ndows computer to edit all of your Microsoft Office documents. Microsoft announced that it’s opened up the Office for Android tablet preview to everyone, so you’ll no longer have to request access through the + community page.

From Microsoft’s Office blog:

“Today, we are excited to announce that we are further exping the preview. want more feedback from more users to ensure that Office apps work well on a range of different Android tablets before launching the official apps. To participate in the preview, you can use an ARM-based Android tablet running KitKat or llipop, with a screen size between 7″ 10.1″. Starting today, anyone can go to ay download the rd, Excel, werint preview apps. No waitlist. No requesting access. st go download the apps!”

You can grab each of the apps from the ay store try them out for yourself. Microsoft also asks that you leave feedback on its + community page.

The story behind the story: Microsoft is making some big moves this year to exp beyond just its ndows ndows one platforms. The launch of the Office for Android Tablets apps for both Android iOS are just the beginning of the company’s push to become the de facto productivity suite on every mobile platform. It’ll be interesting to see how it competes with the Docs suite, however, which already boasts support for Microsoft Office’s proprietary file types.
