After coming to the desktop, web, and iOS earlier in April, Spotify's new visual overhaul is now rolling out to Android users via Google Play.
The new Android app features Spotify's refreshed visual "black" theme and includes new typography and rounded icons, similar to the updates we saw a few weeks ago.
The new Spotify app for Android also brings the "Your Music" feature to Google's mobile platform replacing the old Playlists section. Instead of just seeing your playlists, the Your Music section breaks everything down into songs, albums, and artists, as well.
Spotify says it also tweaked its Browse feature with this release. You still get the usual playlists based on your mood, genres such as rock or country & folk, event-specific playlists for workouts, and so on. Each playlist is represented by a touchable, square tile.
But top lists and new releases get extra focus by making them simple text elements, thereby standing out from the blocks of tiles. There's also a tile carousel at the top that scrolls horizontally displaying featured playlists.
Spotify's Android revamp is rolling out to all users now, but it may take a few weeks to reach all users so you may not see the new update just yet.
Anyone who's impatient could download the new Spotify for Android directly from Spotify's mobile site at m.spotify.com and install it from there. Sideloading, however, will take you out of the Google Play update cycle—meaning you'll have to visit Spotify's mobile site any time you want to update the music streaming service's app. Patience is definitely a virtue while you're waiting for this revamp.
