Facebook has invited the press to an event at their headquarters on April 4 to “Come See Our New Home On Android.” HTC is widely believed to be taking part in the event as well.

ile many have speculated Zuckerberg crew may finally be unveiling the long-rumored Facebook one, The ll Street urnal is reporting that the social giant will use the event to showcase new software built for Android. According to the urnal‘s sources, this new über-app will incorporate content from users’ Facebook feeds directly to the opening screen offer a deeper integration of Facebook functionality throughout the mobile experience.

If true, the move to a more-integrated OS would make sense—probably more than a dedicated Facebook-bred phone—as it would instantly bring users into Facebook as soon as they turn on their phone. And looking forward, it will prove wise for the social network to acclimate consumers to a Facebook-heavy OS, as the Internet transitions from our laptops phones to our wrists faces.

An undisclosed HTC model will reportedly be the first phone to offer this Facebook integration; however the software—reportedly to be dubbed Facebook Home—will be available on all Android phones.

According to 9to5, Facebook HTC will be joining forces in a shared marketing campaign stemming from the announcement that will highlight the brs as a lifestyle. Hopefully this will prove a more successful collaboration than the ill-fated HTC ChaCha Salsa phones, which came equipped with a wholly unnecessary Facebook button that allowed users to post images directly to their feed.

ile the elusive Facebook one may remain in the realm of vaporware, this may signal the beginning of all social networks vying for not only prominence in our mobile lives, but ubiquity.
